Collaborators: Brittany Bogart, Office Manager
Summary/Challenge: Tampa Bay Watch is a 501C3 non-profit working hard to care for Tampa Bay’s estuary. As a growing non-profit, they needed to professionalize and streamline their new hire onboarding process. Due to growth in the organization (both in new hires and new locations) this elearning course solved the problem of inconsistencies in new hire training, while also saving managers time and energy. This hour-long training walks new hires through Tampa Bay Watch's history, programs, policies, procedures and more. New hires will experience Tampa Bay Watches welcoming atmosphere, mission and branding on day one of employment.
Solution: The course contains three modules. The first module is a journey through the organization with interactive maps describing the various programs run by the organization. The next two modules follow two hypothetical employee’s, using story based and interactive learning to cover the basic policies and safety procedures. The elearning course was developed in Lectora and Canva pro, adhering to all brand guidelines.
Results: All in all, this eLearning experience should be the standard for new hires in the non-profit industry in order to save time and money while ensuring new hires gain adequate understanding of the organization's mission and policies.

Learner Considerations: This material was made considering that many of the learners have low literacy capabilties. Large concepts are explained with easy to grasp imagery and wording. Also, since the topic of trauma can be triggering, self-regulation breaks have been added throughout the course and for the learner to access at any time.
Interactivity: The interactions and knowledge checks for this course are mostly experiential based, as the goal of this course is to build awareness, understanding and tools for dealing with trauma.
Positive Progress: Given the nature of the material, the progress bar is being marked as the growth of a plant. This creates a sense of hope and a visual reminder that they are making progress in the course and in themselves.
